In a live show, behind-the-scenes a director is going down a list and barking commands to the stage hands. The band is listening for specific cues so they know when and what to play. Technicians are listening for exactly when to adjust the lights, start the fog machine or initiate other special effects. It’s all in a day’s work for the pros but if we were watching backstage it would look like total craziness.
The Light-O-Rama ShowTime Sequencing Suite takes what seems like chaotic events and makes them predictable. Now you control the entire show so behind-the-scenes Light-O-Rama controllers can work their magic.

ShowTime Sequencing Suite comparisons
Want more details? Here’s the list. Most users go with Pro level because all the features are enabled and you won’t need to worry about upgrading from a lower level when you’re in a bind and need a feature in a hurry.
* Basic software is free with 16 and 32 channel Starter Package
** Basic Plus, Standard and Advanced versions free or discounted in all Starter Packages
*** Basic supports Unit IDs 01 and 02. Basic Plus supports Unit IDs 01 thru 04. Standard supports Unit IDs 01 thru 08.
**** Add-Ons purchased separately
Demo feature is active for evaluation but changes cannot be saved and lights cannot be controlled
Limited program is available for some features are disabled
Pro Level Features only available with software versions S4 (4.x) or higher
If you purchase the SuperStar addon you need to have the correct S3/S4 license level to correctly support the software:
- SuperStar 2-CCR requires Basic or higher
- SuperStar 4-CCR requires Basic Plus or higher
- SuperStar 8-CCR requires Standard or higher
- All higher SuperStar Levels require the Advanced or Pro level license
Sequence Editor is at the center of your design
Everything that happens in the Light-O-Rama environment is based on a timeline. Each Light-O-Rama control channel must be told what to do at any point in time. Light-O-Rama’s Sequence Editor makes it easy. Pick your music or video, determine when something should happen, pick an effect from the toolbar and drop it on the timeline. After awhile, your imagination becomes the only limitation of what can be done. Watch almost any of the customer submitted videos on our website to see just some of what Sequence Editor can do.
Pixel Editor and/or the SuperStar add-on make it easy if you love pixels
Our Pixel Editor (available at the Pro license level) allows you to easily incorporate high density pixel design elements (we call them models) into a show. We’ve already figured out standard patterns like fireworks, butterflies, meteor showers, images and text that will scale appropriately to your models. Change the timing and colors as well as fade effects in and out on the timeline. The results are added as a separate track in your existing Light-O-Rama sequence.
SuperStar is an optional add-on that gives total control of how all your pixels look during your show. SuperStar allows you to create sophisticated patterns on a timeline and the computer figures out the details for each pixel. Import your work into the Light-O-Rama Sequence Editor, package your show and watch the magic.
Show and Schedule Editor pull it all together
You’ve created sequences using the above tools. Package those sequences into various shows and run them anytime you want. Have a different show for different hours or days of the week depending on your viewing traffic. We even give you the ability to interrupt a running show, insert another sequence on-demand and when done return to the previously running show.
Take advantage the Light-O-Rama enhanced data protocol
A Light-O-Rama data network can use the optional “enhanced” LOR protocol (via the Advanced Mode of the ShowTime Sequencing Suite Network Preferences program with software 4.x and higher). The enhanced protocol allows specialized intensity files typically generated with the Pixel Editor or SuperStar add-on to be used with displays having large numbers of control channels and lighting effects.
Not all Light-O-Rama controllers can take advantage of the enhanced data protocol. Some controllers may require a firmware update.
Take advantage of intensity files with the Pro level software
An intensity file contains lighting effects for a sequence, but not in the same way as the main sequence file. In a sequence file, effects are defined with high-level descriptions. For example, a sequence file might say that a certain channel is supposed to fade up from 0% to 37% over the course of three seconds starting seven seconds into the sequence. An intensity file instead stores raw intensity values at all points in time. Using the same example, the intensity file would contain something more like, “Intensity 0 at time 3.00, intensity 0 at time 3.01, intensity 0 at time 3.02, … intensity 1 at time 3.19, intensity 1 at time 3.20, …, intensity 37 at time 10.00″. This allows intensity files to be very efficient during play, and so can be helpful with designing shows with very large channel counts.
Intensity files are created by the Light-O-Rama Pixel Editor or SuperStar add-on and can only be used with a Pro level ShowTime Sequencing Suite license. Each intensity file is associated with a sequence file, and the effects from both the intensity file and the “main” sequence file will be played whenever the sequence is played.
Only effects for Light-O-Rama controllers and for native DMX devices can be used in an intensity file. If effects for Light-O-Rama controllers are used, they must be on enhanced Light-O-Rama networks.
A Pro level license is required to use intensity files. Not all Light-O-Rama controllers can take advantage of intensity files. Some controllers may require a firmware update.
